While it significantly limits the influence that the Prime Deities have on Exandria, it also keeps the forces of the Betrayer Gods from just invading the world outright. Following the devastation brought about by The Calamity, the Prime Deities willingly separated themselves from the Material Plane, though not without dragging the Betrayer Gods with them, behind the Divine Gate, a metaphysical barrier that separates the Material Plane from the other realms of existence.
